Mnp MLA recovers from COVID-19

Md Fazur Rahim, the first and only legislator in Manipur to have been infected by COVID-19 has recovered.

Rahim was among 96 persons discharged after he tested negative on the latest RT PCR test on Wednesday, a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated. He was under home isolation at his residential quarters in Imphal’s Babupara.

The 50-year-old Congress legislator was tested positive upon returning from Delhi on August 10 , following which he skipped a one-day monsoon session of the state Assembly even as his party issued a whip ahead of the recent confidence motion. 

Including the MLA, 96 COVID-19 infected persons were discharged on Wednesday upon recovery, the control room added in its latest report.

Of the 96 recoveries, 66 were personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The recovery cases in the state rose to 2885 including 340 and the recovery rate stood at 59.16%.

78 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours to take the COVID-19 tally in the state to 4,765. The tally included 1277 CAOF personnel and 1973 were active cases. Of the 55 new cases among the general populace, only seven were returnees from other states while 48 persons contracted the virus despite no significant travel history.

The control room stated that asymptomatic or mild symptomatic persons willing to undergo home isolation were encouraged to do so after consultation with the chief medical officers of their respective districts.
