Model Colony Council Dimapur issues directives

Model Colony Council (MCC) has informed residents/site allotees of Model Colony, East Dimapur that it has convened a general meeting on September 7, 9 am at the residence of its chairman. A press release by MCC chairman, David Zhimomi, GB Vikuto Wotsa and secretary, Er K Boheto Chophy has requested residents of Model colony including tenants (young and old) to attend the meeting. Absenteeism will be recorded and marked for necessary action, it said.

An emergency meeting was held on August 28 at the residence of the MCC banker where issues pertaining to the welfare of its public and beyond, were discussed. In the meeting, MCC resolve to strictly monitor its areas and restrict unauthorized fishing at government fish farm (FFDA). The members agreed that government property was public property and anyone found fishing there will be penalized. 

The members also asked the head of department of fisheries to construct a proper security fencing, maintain the farm area and ensure proper water outlet for of stagnant water bodies to prevent environmental hazards. It also notified the public of Model Colony to clean drainages adjacent to their compounds whenever necessary.  Also, while it encourages greenery, MCC said that trees and plants should not obstruct drains, roads, electric wires and poles. Action will be taken against defaulters as per the resolution of the council, the release added.

In a separate press release which included the convenor of the action committee, Ahuto Zhimomi, MCC has directed shopkeepers to maintain dustbins and clean adjacent drains daily.  It said it will monitor hygiene in all food joints and butcher shops to prevent diseases and warned against sale of expired items and exorbitant rates and those found doing so shall be penalized.
