To contain the spread of COVID-19, Mon district on Friday went under total lockdown for four days.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mon, Thavaseelan K, in an order on Thursday total lockdown was necessitated following “certain emerging circumstances and with a view to contain the spread of COVID-19.”

During the lockdown, movement of public has been restricted except for medical emergencies, all shops would remain closed except pharmacies and no private vehicles allowed to ply. 

Meanwhile, DC Mon on Friday issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for special categories of people entering Mon for urgent essential works or for unavoidable reasons and for people entering Mon district from other districts of Nagaland. The order cautioned that any person entering Mon without prior approval from DC Mon would be prosecuted under relevant provisions of the law.
