Nagaland joined the people across the world on June 5 in observing “World Environment Day (WED)” by creating awareness on United Nations (UN) theme for WED 2019, “Air Pollution”.

ZSU: Zapami Students Union (ZSU) observed the day by planting 1800 tree saplings at Zapami village under Phek district.

ZSU president Lhiwetsho Wetsah appealed the villagers to protect and conserve its forest as trees are vital in providing clean air.

Selu Koza, Beat Forest Officer Khezhakeno in his short speech appreciated the Zapami students and village community for their conservation efforts. (Correspondent) 

DLSAs: Commemorating WED, District Legal Services Authority (DLSAs) from Kohima, Wokha, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Peren, Longleng, Tuensang and Phek conducted various activities in their respective quarters. 

Mkg Forest Div: Mokokchung Forest Division in collaboration with Tree House School and Mahila Shakti Kendra observed WED in Mokokchung. 

LMHS Tsg: Eco -Club & NCC of Loyem Memorial High School (LMHS) Tuensang observed WED at the school campus by organising a short programme under the theme, "Air Pollution". 

PNF: People in Need Foundation (PNF) with Kirjath  Jearim Mission school, Samziuram Jalukie, observed WED by carrying out plantation drive.

Kiphire: Kiphire Forest Division carried out a plantation drive on WED by providing saplings to all households of 16 villages. Plantation drive was also conducted by forest department at Pungro Town 

LHSS Kiphire: Eco Club of Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS) Kiphire observed WED by carrying out plantation and cleanliness drive.

SBCZ: Youth department of Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ) in collaboration with Divisional Forest Office Zunheboto observed WED to raise awareness about the significance of healthy environment and to solve various environmental issues by implementing some actions to protect nature. 

SJS Mon: Students of St. Joseph’s School (SJS) Mon observed WED at the school by partaking in skit and speech competition based on the theme, “beat air pollution”. Students made posters on the theme and carried out plantation drive.

SPS Chumu: Students of Shalom Public School (SPS) Chumukedima observed WED by partaking in dramas based on the theme "beat pollution”.

NLSUC: Nagaland student union Chandigarh (NLSUC) with All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU) Kamrup (M) District Committee Guwahati Assam observed WED by carrying out a plantation drive. 

Murise village: CHILDLINE Dimapur, Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts/Alcoholics (IRCA) Prodigals' Home and Chasing Hope observed WED by initiating a plantation drive at Murise village, Dimapur.

Dorains: The Dorains Dimapur observed WED under the theme, "Beat Air Pollution" by donating and planting tree saplings at CIHSR Dimapur. 

MGM College: Students of MGM College Dimapur observed WED under the theme, “air pollution at the college auditorium by organising various competitions and debate on the topic “development vs environment”.

MPC: Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) in collaboration with Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Nagaland observed WED by carrying out a plantation drive.

Sapheni BLF: Sapheni BLF, Satakha block observed WED under the theme, “beat air pollution” where participates were trained on paper bag making and the finished products were distributed to shopkeepers at Sathaka.

Shamator College: Shamator College observed WED by organising a programme under the theme, “I support green world” where students were briefed on the importance of creating awareness on environment pollution. 

DFoN: Dream Foundation of Nagaland (DFoN) on WED organised plantation drive and planted tree saplings at Government Primary School (Sumi) Purana Bazaar, Government Middle School Toluvi village and Government Middle School, Padumpukhuri. 

SS Dubagaon: Shepherd's School Dubagaon observed World Environment Day on the theme, "Beat Air Pollution".

Mt View Colony: Youth Association of Mt View Colony, Purana Bazar Dimapur organised tree plantation drive within the colony to mark WED.

MKK: Miiluori Kiichienyiri Kiigharii (MKK) in collaboration with Meluri administration observed WED at Meluri by organising a day long plantation drive. Students from Government Higher Secondary School, Government Middle School, Christian Mission School, and St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri partook in the drive. 

GHSS Phek: Government Higher Secondary School, Phek observed WED with the National Cadet Corps (Boys and Girls), student police cadet, Eco club and National Social Service by organising cleanliness drive and planting flowers and tree saplings in the school campus and around Phek town.

Forest deptt Dimapur: Department of Forest, Dimapur Division observed WED under the theme, “Beat Air Pollution” by visiting and distributing tree saplings to Blue Moon School, Sangtamtilla, GMS Sangtamtilla, GMS Rangapahar, GPS Gopanala, GPS Murise, GHS Dhansiripar and Government Middle School, Disaguphu. 

ZSU: Zhavame Students’ Union (ZSU) in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Phek observed the WED by planting more than tree saplings at Lokhro,Zhavame Village. 

MCK: Modern College Kohima in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Kohima observed WED at Modern College new campus, Piphema. The members of NSS, NCC and Eco Green Club commemorated the event under the theme, “Air Pollution” by planting saplings around the campus.

ZSU (N): Zeme Students’ Union Nagaland, Hqs Nsong Town observed WED under the theme, “beat air pollution” at Haisuiwang School Kamdi.

ZTSBC Aizuto: Youth department of Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church – SBAK Aizuto observed WED by organising mass social work at Zunheboto Town. The department also carried out plantation drive in the church premises.

GHS Pongo: Students of Government High School Pongo under DEO Longleng observed WED by partaking in poster-making, cleanliness drive and planting saplings under the theme, “Air Pollution”

111 Bn BSF Satakha: 111 Bn BSF Satakha observed WED by carrying out plantation drive in Zuneheboto and Phek districts under Nagaland and Ukhrul district under Manipur where the battalion has been deployed. 

ZSU: Zapami Students Union (ZSU) observed WED by carrying out a plantation drive. 

AuS Dmu: Altrura Society (AuS) in collaboration with Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) conducted painting competition in commemoration WED. 

AA, ECC Padumpukhuri: Alumni Association (AA), Eastern Christian College (ECC), Padumpukhuri, Dimapur in collaboration with Eco Club and department of Political Science, ECC conducted cleanliness drive inside the college campus as part of WED. 

CHS Chumukedima: Schools from Chumukedima on WED participated in various competitions organised and hosted by Charis High academy (CBSE).

PVYO: Phek Village Youth Organization (PVYO) in association with Forest department (DFO) Phek observed WED at Phek village.  

NDPP, CYO & DRYO: NDPP Central Youth Organisation (CYO) with Dimapur Region Youth Organisation (DRYO) observed WED by carrying out with plantation drive at Naharbari village.

ARC Ahthibung: Ahthibung Region Club (ARC) in collaboration with Assam Rifles Ahthibung, PS, Ahthibung, PHCAhthibung, GHS Ahthibung, Ahthibung youths and students union observed WED by carrying out plantation drive.

NYK, NSS: As part of WED, “plantation drive and awareness campaign” was jointly organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Dimapur, District Sports Officer, government of Nagaland, State Sports Academy, Unity College and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School NSS Units, at state stadium.
