MSK organises awareness prog for students

Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) a district level centre for women, Mokokchung organised an awareness programme on women centric schemes and programmes on May 9 for the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba.

A press release by MSK stated that the resource person, women welfare officer, Moamenla Longkumer, stressed on the importance of schemes for  women that was already available and added that it should be availed to the maximum.

Emphasising on the importance of girl’s education, Longkumer said females should be educated to be empowered and be independent to stand against the malevolence practices of patriarchy.

She also asked the girls to make use of the women helpline 181(toll free) which is available for 24 hours.

The programme was chaired by the district co-ordinator Putuchiba Walling, who also gave the introductory speech and district co-ordinator, Nukshinaro, spoke about violence against women.
