Sangtam community celebrated Mungmung, the pre-harvest festival, with pomp and gaiety at Sangtamtilla Village here on September 3. 

The celebration was graced by ex-candidate, RS Sangtam as chief guest.  Speaking at the festival, the chief guest stressed on the important of festival and encouraged the community to come together and march ahead for development. He also encouraged the gathering to respect, motivate and encourage one another to live in peace and harmony. 

He also recalled how Sangtamtilla village was established in 1951 and recognized by the government in 1953.  He further encouraged the parents to educate their children so that they will contribute towards progress of the community and society. The significance of the festival was highlighted by Sangtamtilla Village council member, Reopi Anar. 

Short speech was delivered by United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) president, Seopi where he declared the names of five colonies within Sangtamtilla namely Adrangdi (block-1), Tongte (block-2), Changtbhü (block-3), Rosheng (block-4) and Yolongthsa (block-5). 

Earlier, the programme chaired by Sangtamtilla Village Council Dimapur (SVCD) secretary, Yolise Thongru began with an invocation by pastor C Toshi. Welcome address was delivered by SVCD chairman, Asemba Mongzar. Special song was presented by Thronglise Ko Lingpongse. Apart from feast and cultural dances and songs, sporting activities was also organised to mark the day.
