My humble appeal to the NSCN (I-M)

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 10/29/2019 12:29:00 PM IST

In my last meeting with Muivah the General Secretary of NSCN(I-M). I said to him,” You have three major Political Groups and out of three the other two have summoned me. I never hesitated to say whatever I wanted to say to you but you did not summon me for which I thank you.”

It is known to all that the failure of the talk between the Government of India and the Federal Government of Nagaland and the subsequent signing of the Shillong Accord are the root causes of putting the Nagaland into a Boiling Pan for more than 30 years. Our losses, sufferings and shame were beyond description.

The door for talk was open only for peripheral matters if any according to Clause 3 of the Shillong Accord. But God has been gracious to us that the GoI and the NSCN(I-M) had signed Ceasefire Agreement and Political talk at thje highest level was started again which has been going up to date.

Under circumstances the current negotiating Body is no longer NNC/FGN but the NSCN(I-M). Whatever may be the Political Group and whoever may be the leaders, all are commited for the same cause. But hatred and bitter feeling among our people was shimmering.

It is not boasful but to speak the truth that in all my speeches in public and relevant writings. I repeatedly said, “ We cannot express the consequence of the failure of the last talk. The ongoing talk also will be the same. The fruits of the success or failure of the ongoing talk will be reaped by all of the people. So all of the people should rise above hatred and bitter feeling and support the talk to be a success”.

The talk in Delhi belongs to all and all are included and not excluded. But some Civil Societies especially the G.B Union of Nagaland has urged the remaining Naga Political Groups to go to Delhi for inclusiveness and reponding to the appeal made by the Civil Societies, the remaining Political Groups also went to Delhi . But after their arrival they had said that they had exclusive meetings with Delhi leaders for many times.

It is the same plank and the GoI also have no magnanimity in having separate meeting with the leaders of the Nagas. To speak the truth, Mr. Muivah , the General Secretary of NSCN(I-M) who has been leading the talk as the Chief Negotiator for 22 years is virtually the leader and it is not inconsistent to have separate table of talk with the leaders of the GoI. How to be succesful, victorious and to pave the way for peace and order is how to seek to do the will of God by walking before God and doing his will. In the will of God there is no twist, no darkness and no ambiguity but all things are straight-forward and bright.

My appeal to the peace negotiators is that be conscious of where we are and be sure that God willing, a day of maturity will come. It is my personal opinion and advice at 98.
