 Rüguoser Gogo Liegise, a Naga pianist who is currently pursuing his double major in Pre-Medicine and Music at Goshen College, Indiana, USA performed at the 59th Annual Concerto-Aria Concert, a prestigious college event which features the best eight students of the college.

A graduate of KIS, Kodaikanal, Rüguoser did his high school from Hollotoli School, Dimapur.

A former student of renowned artiste Nise Meruno, Rüguoser performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 3 (Mvt. 3) during the concert held the famous Sauder Concert Hall, a leading performance venue in the Midwest due to its acoustics features and simple elegance.

Other performers included Minhyuk Kim: piano – Rachmaninoff, Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 (mvt 1), Abigail Greaser: violin – Mendelssohn, Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 (mvt. 1), Lisa Rosado Rivera: soprano – Rossini, “Una voce poco fa” from Il Barbieri di Siviglia, Lukas Thompson & Josh Liechty: duet – Donizetti, “Cheti, cheti immantinente” from Don Pasquale, Nathan Pauls: baritone – Kurt Weill, “Lonely House” from Street Scene, Rebecca Choi: soprano – Mozart, “Batti, batti O bel Masetto” from Don Giovanni.

The concert was conducted by renowned choir master Jose Rocha, an associate professor of music at Goshen College and director of the Goshen College Symphony Orchestra. Strongly committed to music education, Rocha has taught and directed middle school and high school orchestras in Florida, Texas and Mississippi for the past 15 years, and is a sought-after conductor and cellist in the United States and Mexico. Rocha made his Carnegie Hall debut leading the Johnston Sinfonia Orchestra in 2014. The annual Concerto-Aria premiere event is sponsored by the Department of Performing and Visual Arts is scheduled for the spring of each year. This concert provides the opportunity for outstanding student soloists to earn the privilege of playing or singing with orchestral accompaniment in a formal concert at the Washington Pavilion.

Students eligible to audition for the Concerto-Aria Concert must be enrolled for at least six hours for credit during the semester of the concert, and must be studying for credit with a member of the applied music staff to ensure that he or she will represent performance standards set by the Program. A student may be chosen to appear in Concerto Aria only twice in his/her career at Augustana, and not in consecutive years.
