Naga talks: BJP legislators leave for Delhi

State BJP legislators led by deputy chief minister and BLP leader, Y. Patton flew to Delhi Tuesday to meet Central leaders and Naga Political Groups (NPGs) presently camping in Delhi in connection with efforts to push for an early political settlement of the Naga political issue.

According to a press note issued by Dy.CMO media cell, the BJP delegation will be meeting the Interlocutor A.K Mishra, Naga negotiating groups who are already in Delhi- NSCN (I-M) and WC/NNPGs. 

The BJP delegation, as facilitators for Naga political talks, will urge upon the negotiating groups to expedite the protracted Naga peace talks by hammering out differences in order to bring about an acceptable and honorable solution, which has eluded the people for decades, the media cell stated.

While asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were serious about resolving the Naga issue for the benefit and betterment of the people, the State BJP legislators also expressed strong belief that peace can be achieved only by meaningful and respectable deliberations.

The BJP legislators also expressed gratitude to chief minister Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma for his proactive role in reaching out to different parties during this crucial talks.

BJP media cell also informed that the party unit president and minister Temjen Imna Along, who was in Imphal , was expected to join the delegation in Delhi had to cancel the trip due to the demise of former state BJP president and chairman NBDA, Visasolie Lhoungu.

BJP legislators-- Tovihoto Ayemi, Kazheto Kinimi and Mmhonlumo Kikon were among those who left for Delhi with Patton.
