Nagaland awarded best small state in ‘law & order’

Nagaland was awarded for the second consecutive year the ‘Best performing small state in law and order’ and also won this year’s ‘Most improved Small state in entrepreneurship and cleanliness’ by The India Today Group State of the States survey.  The 2019 State of the States awards were presented by Union minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change , Prakash Javadekar at a function held at the ITC Maurya Hotel, Delhi. The award for Nagaland was received by Additional Chief Secretary & Resident Commissioner (Nagaland House, Delhi)  Jyoti Kalash, IAS.

In his speech, Javadekar said that healthy competition between states was a hallmark of democracy.

Tamil Nadu emerged as the best-performing big state this year while Assam topped the list of most improved states.

Meanwhile, other North Eastern states like Tripura bagged the best performing and most improved small state in agriculture, Sikkim--best performing small state in education; most improved small state in governance, Mizoram-- best performing small state in inclusive development and environment; most improved small state in economy, health and tourism, Arunachal Pradesh-- most improved small state in infrastructure, education and law and order and Manipur bagged the most improved small state in inclusive development.

It may be recalled that Nagaland was awarded the ‘best performing small state’ in the category of ‘Law & Order’ in the 2018 survey. 

The State of the States survey is an annual event organized by The India Today Group, which ranks states on a range of parameters adjudicating for the ‘best performing’ and ‘most improved’ states across the country.

The programme was attended by several chief ministers, ministers representing states, officials and host of dignitaries.
