Nagaland COVID-19 cases near 900-mark

Nagaland’s COVID-19 cases neared the 900-mark after 51 more positive cases were reported from across the state on July 14, taking the total tally to 896 cases-- 550 active and 346 recovered.

In a tweet, state Health minister S. Pangnyu Phom Kohima reported 24 cases, Peren- 20, Dimapur- 3, Longleng- 2 and 1 each in Mokokchung & Zunheboto.
As per the severity of symptoms, 535 active cases were asymptomatic and 15 with mild symptoms.
Till July 14, a total of 16,871 samples were sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 16, 631 were received. Out of the 16,631 samples, a total of 10,714 samples were tested at the BSL-3 lab (NHAK) and BSL-2 lab (CIHSR) and out of which 565 tested positive.
In addition, a total of 10,555 samples were sent for testing on TrueNat out of which 9,981 samples tested negative and 312 positive. The 312 cases have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.

PTI: With the number of COVID-19 cases crossing the nine lakh-mark on Tuesday, the health ministry said that 86 per cent of the total active cases are confined to 10 affected states with Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu accounting for 50 per cent of them.
India’s coronavirus infection caseload surged to 9,06,752 on Tuesday while the death toll climbed to 23,727, according to the ministry’s data updated at 8 am.
According to a PTI tally, the total number of cases is 909743, the number of discharged people is 573477 and the death tally is 23770.
Despite being the second-most populous country of the world, the daily growth rate of new COVID-19 cases in India has been coming down continuously from around 38.2 per cent in March to 3.24 per cent on July 12, Rajesh Bhushan, the officer on special duty in the Health Ministry, told a press briefing. Bhushan said the total recovered cases of COVID-19 are about 1.8 times the number of active cases.
