Nagaland COVID tally crosses 300 mark

50 new COVID cases on June 24; Active: 189 & recovered: 141 

Nagaland on Tuesday reported 50 more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 330 till date.

State Health minister S. Pangnyu Phom informed that the 50 fresh cases were detected from 312 samples that were tested. He said that 24 cases were reported from Dimapur quarantine centre, 14 from Kohima quarantine centre and 12 from Peren quarantine centre.

With this the state now has 189 active cases and 141 recovered, total 330.

All the positive persons have been shifted to the designated COVID-19 hospitals for treatment. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 189 active cases were asymptomatic, principal secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha said during the daily briefing.

Till date, a total of 9950 samples have been tested out of which results of 8467 samples were received, he added. 

Out of the 9950 samples, 7121 samples were received at the BSL-3 lab (Naga Hospital Authority Kohima) till June 23. The BSL-3 lab has so far tested 5926 samples, out of which 271 samples were positive.

In addition, a total of 3026 samples have been tested by TrueNat, out of which 28 samples tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. 

Further, 2,501 samples have tested negative and the results of 497 samples were awaited.

Currently, 6405 persons are lodged at the government facility quarantine.
