Nagaland COVID tally now 916

With 14 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and 43 recovery reported on July 16, the state’s total tally stood at 916 cases-- 525 active and 391 recovered.

In a tweet, state health minister S. Pangnyu Phom said that out of 286 samples tested, 12 positive cases were reported from Dimapur and 2 from Kohima. As per the severity of symptoms, 524 active cases were asymptomatic and 1 with mild symptoms. Pangnyu further informed 43 COVID-19 patient from Peren district had recovered on Thursday.

He, however, said that the recovered patients will be kept under strict surveillance.

Meanwhile, out of the 12 positive cases detected in Dimapur, 10 belonged to the paramilitary forces. Sources said that at least a hundred from the paramilitary forces had tested positive so far for COVID-19. 

Till date, a total of 17,336 samples had been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 17,088 were received. Out of the 17,336 samples, a total of 11,009 samples were sent to BSL-3 Lab (NHAK) for testing and a total of 10,911 samples were tested, out of which 567 tested positive. 

Further, it was informed that the Health department, in addition to the existing ventilators in the state, has installed 45 more new stand alone ventilators in the 11 district Hospitals.
