Nagaland government on Tuesday launched the National Animal Disease – Control Programme (NAD-CP) at the Conference Hall of Nagaland Livestock Development Board, Lerie, Kohima in consonance with the Government of India, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. 

The programme was launched by additional director HoD, department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Dr. Temsumeren. 

While launching the programme, Dr. Temsumeren highlighted the importance of the programme and the seriousness of the Government of India to eradicate the diseases, for which convergence of the programme with the newly introduced scheme- Information Network System on Animal Productivity & Health (INAPH) & National Animal Disease Reporting Systems (NADRS) has been done to complete traceability and capture real time reliable date of the immunised animals at the farmers’ doorstep. 

Therefore, he called upon all the departmental officers, district officer and field staff to carry out the works on war footing.    

This programme has been launched nationwide across the country by the newly created Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying with a view to eradicate Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis by 2025 on Mission Mode.

The launching programme was chaired by joint director (Planning), Dr. V. Rutsa. 

Keynote addresses were delivered by additional director and nodal officer of NAD-CP, Dr. B. Lama and Additional director, Nagaland Livestock Development Board on National Animal Disease – Control Programme (NAD-CP) and Information Network System on Animal Productivity & Health (INAPH), Dr. N. Theunuo.

The programme concluded with a vaccination on FMD and tagging of dairy cattle at the State Cattle Breeding farm, Lerie, Kohima.

Meanwhile, the launching of the National animal disease control programme was held at training hall, Veterinary Hospital Kiphire on July 23 organised by AH & Veterinary Services Kiphire.

Veterinary Surgeon Kiphire, Dr. Tsilise in his keynote address thanked the special guest EAC Kiphire, Chenithung Ovung and participants. 

Special guest, Chenithung, in his short speech opined that the launching of this programme will safe and protect all the cattle from diseases. 

He appealed to the Veterinary department to give proper awareness about this disease in the villages within Kiphire.
