Nagaland records 14 COVID positive cases; tally now 94

Nagaland’s COVID-19 cases Friday rose to 94 after 14 more people were tested positive of the infection. 

The 14 positive cases were reported from Dimapur but belonged to Peren district. All of them had recently returned from Chennai by a special train on May 22.

In a tweet, Health and Family Welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom said: “Fourteen new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours out of 235 samples tested. All the samples tested were from Chennai returnees.” 

According state nodal officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Program, Dr. Nyan Kikon the patients, who belong to Peren district, were lodged at designated government quarantine facilities in Dimapur. 

All the positive cases were asymptomatic, he added. 

As per the Health department bulleting, till date a  total of 3883 COVID-19 suspected samples had been sent for testing, out of which 2269 were negative and 94 positive cases and the remaining results were awaited.

Further, all 101 samples tested by TrueNat were negative.
