Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation observes ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’

Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) observed vigilance awareness week from October 27 to November 2, the week in which the birthday of Sardar Valladh Bhai Patel falls.

A press release by NVCO press and media cell stated that, president of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi, advocate had officially launched the anti-corruption campaign with the challenge, “Lets us join hands to fight against corruption”. Savi said that one must stigmatize the culture of corruption, favoritism and nepotism and actively promote ethical value of integrity. Pointing out that corruption in Nagaland was a matter of serious concern, Savi further said that corruption was the abuse of public power for private gain and the main two keys were greed and selfishness. Savi also said that one often blamed politicians as corrupt but corruption lies in every sector and was ruining the state, which was a major setback for development.  Savi also pointed out that another root cause of corruption in Nagaland was the manner in which the general elections and by-elections were conducted.  He added that there was need of a strong hand to cure the malaise of election malpractices as none was above the law and God. 

Savi therefore called upon for clean election in the forthcoming by-election, and  that the state be a land free of corruption where true democracy prevail. 

Kezhokhoto Savi who is from Southern Angami-1 constituency with great concern challenged the people and all the voters from the 60 Pungro-Kiphire constituency with the message, “Let us rise up and rebuilt”.
