National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) in collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) organised “day of hope” at Assisi auditorium on February 8.

A press release from Pramila, director Assisi Centre for Integrated Development said that the programme was especially for kids who do not have enough hope and added that it was focussed on children in domestic work and those whose parents were domestic workers. “We want to create an awareness and sensitisation on the rights of children and to attain these rights at four levels such as family, community, institutions and governments”, she added.

While speaking on behalf of the children regarding the event, Maria, CRM member stated that every child was precious, and that there are thousands of children who are abused, bullied and deprived of their basic needs. She also highlighted the activities of CRM where they have been identifying talents and potentials of the children as well as providing a platform.  She also encouraged the people to support them in attaining the rights of children.

Meanwhile, resource persons of the programme were Priya Shyam and Jacqueline Jennifer. It may be noted that in order to create this awareness under the guidance of Geeta Lakra, 32 child participation groups were formed under this organisation which will promote child rights to develop potentials, defend their rights, serve disadvantaged groups, etc. Altogether, around 350 participants attended programme.
