Along with the rest of the nation, National Lok Adalat (People’s Courts) will be observed in all the district headquarters under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) on September 14.

A press release from NSLSA public relations assistant stated that, 11 Lok Adalat Benches by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSAs) will be set-up. Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, and a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably. Lok Adalats have been given statutory status under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.  Under the said Act, the award (decision) made by the Lok Adalats is deemed to be a decree of a civil court and is final and binding on all parties and no appeal against such an award lies before any court of law.

In the last National Lok Adalat conducted in the state on July 13, 2019, 409 cases were taken up and 167 cases were settled and disposed off amicably. The disposal data of each DLSAs will be further uploaded on the web portal of the state authority at nslsa.nagalandgov.in.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
