National road safety week observed in Wokha

Motor Vehicle department Wokha observed the 31st National road safety week from January 11 to 17, under the theme “bring change through youth power” on Thursday.

A press release the organisers stated that, Chumthungo Humtsoe assistant road safety information inspector Wokha distributed banners and pamphlets at Wokha Police point junction to all vehicles commuters and pedestrians at the earlier hour. A short programme for road safety and awareness was also conducted at ANTA Wokha unit office with Pickup Union and ANTA Wokha unit.
Chumthungo Humtsoe as the resource person informed the participants to follow traffic rules and restrain from using mobile phone while driving as well as to avoid drinking alcohol. He cautioned that most of the accidents occurred in connection to human carelessness and negligence. He further highlighted on the new 2019 motor vehicle acts related to fine and penalties.
