NCC CATC-36 underway at LFHSS, Dimapur

Ten-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-36) of Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Kohima commenced on July 3 at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. 

A press release by PRO (Defence) stated that 405 NCC girl and 31 boy cadets from all districts of Nagaland, along with eight associated NCC officers are attending the camp.

The release stated that Group Commander, NCC Group HQ Kohima, Brig SS Dhankhar, visited the camp on July 5 and urged the cadets to imbibe the maximum possible training to develop their character and personality which in turn will substantially arm them do well in all walks of life.

The camp commandant, Col Avinash Pitre, said that he and his team of officers and staff will make all out endeavour to develop the character, qualities of leadership, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service and all round development of cadet’s personality especially in confidence, public speaking and time management, and impart an intensive training, of both military as well as non military subjects to the cadets. 

The camp will conclude on July 12. 

Equestrian training for cadets 

Meanwhile, at the ongoing camp, 1 Nagaland Equestrian training (Horse Riding) was conducted as a joint initiative of 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC. 

All 405 girl cadets and 31 boys cadets underwent an orientation and introductory session to the various equipment, characteristics of a riding horse followed by a horse ride under controlled conditions. 

A press release by PRO (defence) stated that not only is this is the first time that the girls and boys got the opportunity to mount and ride a horse but also the first time that equestrian training was conducted as part of NCC CATC.

The coaching was given by Dinesh Chandra Sikdar, a coach of International repute of yesteryears.
