NDFB militant killed in East Garo Hills

A hardcore rebel of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) was gunned down on Friday by security forces in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district, a police official said.

Acting on intelligence inputs, Swift Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos of the state police raided a hideout of a mixed group of 10 NDFB cadres along with several Garo miscreants at Tarasin village.
As the commandos approached the village, they were fired upon, a police officer said. In retaliatory fire, one of the NDFB militants identified as Koma Boro was killed in the exchange of fire, Ringrang Momin, the district police chief of East Garo Hills said.
An AK rifle along with one magazine was recovered from the possession of the dead militant and an operation is on to nab the other militants, suspected to been wounded, fled from gunfight.
