NDPP, BJP fete Dr. Jamir

The ruling NDPP and BJP have congratulated former governor and former chief minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir on being conferred with the Padma Bushan, the country’s third highest civilian award.

NDPP president Chingwang Konyak said the government of India has recognized Dr. Jamir’s lifetime of dedication to the welfare of the public by awarding the prestigious Padma Bhushan. He said that Dr. Jamir’s concern for the people and his political foresight is legendary.

“And the very fact that he is the sole surviving signatory of the 16-point Agreement which has brought the people of Nagaland thus far speaks volumes about the far-sightedness he had even when he was young,” Chingwang stated.

Recalling his close association with Dr. Jamir in various capacities, Chingwang said he was hugely impressed by Dr. Jamir’s personality and statesmanship.

Chingwang and the NDPP rank and file congratulated Dr. S.C. Jamir on this joyous occasion and “prayed to the Almighty to grant him good health, long life and eternal wisdom so that he continues to be the pride of the Nagas, a guide to a better future and also bring more laurels to our people.”

BJP: State BJP president and minister for Higher & Technical Education, Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along also congratulated Dr. SC Jamir on being conferred the Padma Bushan award.

Along said it was “a proud  moment  for the state of Nagaland that our very own Dr. S.C. Jamir has been conferred with the highest civilian award, the ‘Padma Bushan’ award ,  in recognition of his distinguished services of high order in the service of the Nation.”

“Dr. Jamir is well known for his many commendable services all throughout his illustrious political career, and the award is well deserved,” Along added. Along conveyed his heartiest congratulations to Dr.SC Jamir and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
