Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma Saturday said the National People’s Party (NPP) has been very clear with the BJP leadership that proper discussion and proper consultation should be there before moving forward on any issues which affect the people of the North East, reports Northeast Today.

Sangma pointed out that the issue like Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was something that concerned the people of the region.

He said NPP has urged the BJP leadership that it should take the stakeholders into confidence on this matter.

“Proper discussion and proper consultation must take place in any given situation. The interest of the people of NE must be protected. We will continue to work and fight at the same time on any issues which concern the people of the region,” Sangma said when asked about the challenges of NPP on its relations with the BJP especially in the context with the CAB.

On the recognition of NPP as national party, he said that the party will provide the platform for the people of Northeast. “We will be the voice for the people of the NE. One voice one Northeast has been our slogan. That has been strengthened by the recognition of the NPP as a national party...”he said.
