NE weather alert, heavy rainfall likely

Parts of North East India are likely to experience heavy rainfall activity over the next few days. According to The Weather Channel’s met team, moist southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to converge over North East, thereby leading to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the region.

Widespread rainfall is expected over the region until Thursday, with Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura likely to experience heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning. India Meteorological Department (IMD) adds that isolated heavy to very heavy falls are expected over the region In view of the forecasted conditions, a “yellow” alert had been placed.
