Chief minister Neiphiu Rio launched the “coffee table book” by Onen Nenty in association with Rattle & Hum Music Society at the residential office of the chief minister on February 29.

According to DIPR report, speaking at the launching programme, Neiphiu Rio said that it was upto an individual what to do and what not to do in life but at the end of the day, one has to give heart and soul on the decision he or she has taken. He said “Nagas are doing well in every field but we lack consistency”. He also expressed his appreciation over the bold decision by choosing “safety for women” as the slogan thereby not only promoting herself but also promoting women safety wherever she goes.

Rio wished the author the best for her upcoming tour and urged her to promote the unique culture and tradition to the outside world through which tourism in Nagaland could benefit. Rio reminded her that she would be a brand ambassador of the state on her tour and urged her to make the state proud. He assured her that the government would support her in all possible ways.

Speaking on the occasion, advisor to CM, Abu Metha said her solo tour was a step towards bringing women empowerment and that it exemplified the new energy of the Naga youth.

Meanwhile, Onen Nenty expressed her desire to have an impact on the society through her passion of biking. She encouraged the womenfolk to come out of their comfort zone and think beyond the kitchen. She also said that her passion to ride was indeed a passion with a mission. Onen Nenty is the first Naga lady to go on a solo bike tour throughout Nagaland. She has been selected for an All India solo bike tour which will be flagged off from Delhi on March 8 by minister of Textiles and Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani.

The book was written by Rita Krocha narrated by Onen Nenty from her experiences during her solo bike tour throughout the 11 districts of Nagaland.
