NEISSR 4th foundation-cum-graduation day

North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Dimapur observed its 4nd foundation-cum-graduation day at Pastoral Centre Hall, Holy Cross Campus, Dimapur on September 28, with Kevekha Kevin Zehol DC of Dimapur as the chief guest and Dr. P. S. Lorin, principal of Tetso College, Dimapur as the special guest. 

A press release from NEISSR principal Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto stated that, Kevekha Kevin Zehol congratulated the graduating students for their hard work and the institute for helping the students up till the point of keeping track of their placements. He stated that one can be one’s own best evaluator and further emphasized on thinking out of the box to make life better. He drew attention to the quality education in Nagaland as the need of the hour and encouraged the listeners to ponder on understanding what has gone wrong to deliver quality education. 

Principal of Tetso College, Dr. P.S. Lorin highlighted on the three important aspects of life, to be a responsible being, to have positive attitude in life and to be humble and graceful. He emphasised on the need for better educational system in Nagaland and the responsibility of the various institutes in Nagaland to attract the students with the support of the government and society in general.

Principal of NEISSR, Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto emphasised on the purpose of NEISSR which is to train social workers to set new trends and combat the challenges and ills of society. He referred to the 46 post graduates as “social doctors” who would heal the illnesses in the region of Northeast India particularly Nagaland. 

Addressing the graduating students of Master of Social Work, Rev. Dr. Mathew Thuniampral, principal of St. Joseph School, Niuland emphasized on the importance of quality management to create a transformational leader and not a transitional leader. He encouraged the students to never forget their roots and to continue with their hard work. 

On the occasion 46 students graduated in Master of Social Work (MSW) and Imnayangla Jamir was adjudged the best student and awarded a citation and cash award.

The event was compered by Susan Kulnu and Lohe Ashuziio, invocation by Rev. Fr. Philip Yanpvuthung, principal of Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur and followed by lighting of the lamp. A media presentation on NEISSR was presented by Nisheli, MSW 1st semester, special songs by NEISSR’s music and cultural forum, respectively.

The event also highlighted the release of NEISSR’s first annual magazine by the DC. There was felicitation of the graduates and the Best Student award of 2019. Vote of thanks was delivered by the vice principal of NEISSR, Rev. Fr. John Poji. Benediction was given by Yanbemo Lotha, associate pastor of Lotha Baptist church, Dimapur.
