NEISSR clean election campaign

North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) in collaboration with Peace Channel, launched a clean election campaign under the theme “We pledge for clean election in Nagaland and India” at NEISSR conference hall, Dimapur on April 5.

A press release from NEISSR media cell stated that, Dr. Fr. CP Anto, principal of NEISSR, appreciated the initiative of the social work trainees and stated that as per the 2011 census, 50% of voters were below 25 years of age and 65% below 35 years. He pointed out that the youth play an important role in making positive changes to society and encouraged them to initiate change in communities, the state, as well as the country. He also stated that active involvement of Churches, civil societies, social media and tribal organizations have played a vital role in creating awareness and making individuals and communities decide to stand for clean elections. Dr. Fr. Anto appreciated the NBCC for initiating the campaign and awakening youth and the faithful in Nagaland.

During the program, students Porhosie, KK Among, Angam and Nyanpong B shared from their experiences, and spoke  about the corrupt practices of candidates, party campaigners, and the people at large during elections. 

The program ended with launching of a clean election campaign Facebook page created by NEISSR & Peace Channel, followed by a pledge taken for clean elections by the participants.
