The 7th annual games and sports meet of North-East Students’ Organisation Jalandhar (NESOJ), Punjab concluded on November 12. The sports meet was organised in a bid to foster unity, understanding and rapport among the students from north east India studying in and around Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Amritsar and Ludhiana, Punjab. 

The closing ceremony was graced by Soso Shaiza, member, National Commission for Women (NCW), Government of India, as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Shaiza urged the students not only to excel in sports, but also to concentrate on their academics as well.

Abotani SC representing Arunachal Pradesh were awarded the title of overall champions while the best athlete male and best athlete female award went to Lalrozama Ralte (Mizoram) and Tovikali K Chophy (Nagaland) respectively.

The event was sponsored by Pilot Sports, Jalandhar and co-sponsored by Metsuben Wedding Planner, Dimapur and Tsukhru Design, Kohima.Also supported by Club Twenty.

Abonati SC (Arunachal Pradesh) emerged as the champions in men’s football, while Sangai (Manipur) won the men’s cricket. In the men’s volleyball, Hornbill (Nagaland) emerged as the winner and Lushai (Mizoram) won the men’s basketball.

In the women’s handball, Sangai (Manipur) emerged as the winner and Lushai (Mizoram) won the women’s volleyball.
