New Church inaugurated at Khumchoyan

A new church under the patronage of St. Joseph was blessed and inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima on January 31, at Khumchoyan under Sacred Heart Parish, Bhandari in the presence of fathers, sisters, well-wishers, village elders and leaders, parish community and friends.

A press release from secretary to Bishop of Kohima Fr. Renthungo Victor stated that bishop James Thoppil, in his homily said that a church is the external sign of God’s love of the internal disposition of every Christian. He congratulated the persons responsible for the construction of the new church. The church was blessed in and around and the lectern and Crucifix were also blessed during the occasion.
Rev. Fr. John Ntonse, priest in-charge, Longsa accorded the words of welcome and appreciated the Khumchoyan Catholic community for the achievement. Fr. Rhanben Mathew, parish priest, Sacred Heart Parish, translated the homily of bishop. 
Chena Humtose, chairman, Khumchoyan expressed his gratitude to the donners who made the construction possible and those who assisted for the successful completion of the church.
Nchumbemo Yathan, catechist, Khumchoyan delivered the words of gratitude and choir of St. Mary’s Church Merapani and Sacred Heart church Bhandari presented special songs.
