In what seemed as a warning against any attempt to silence the voice of Civil Society Organisations, Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has warned all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) that any assassination attempt on the lives of civil society leaders would not be tolerated.

A resolution to this effect was taken at NGBF annual executive meeting held at Hotel de Oriental Dream, Dimapur on October 7. Dwelling on the life threat, the NGBF also affirmed that “such actions shall invite appropriate response from NGBF and populace.”

On the issue of urban GBs nomenclature and its functions, the house resolved to “wait for the outcome” of the committee supposed to be set up by the state government.

The house resolved that until physical integration of Naga areas was achieved, “no part of intangki reserve forest must be earmarked or set aside for resettlement plan of any political group as part of Indo-Naga political settlement.” It was affirmed that without physical integration, population integration was “unacceptable” to the NGBF. The house also resolved to hold general session at Phek HQ as and when the situation was conducive.

Meanwhile, the executive members comprising of federating units, represented by GBs from all the 12 districts and two sub-divisions, have “unanimously selected” the office bearers for the term 2021-25 with L Shahlem Konyak as president, Shikuto Zalipu as general secretary, five vice presidents, six joint secretaries, finance secretary and media secretary.
