Despite tireless efforts put in by PWD (NH) division to restore the Dimapur-Kohima road (NH-29 at Old KMC dumping site) where a portion of the road had sunk due to subsidence triggered by incessant rains, the particular stretch was completely washed away on Wednesday morning. Informing this to Nagaland Post, SDO (NH) Akumdong Walling said the road restoration work was affected due to incessant rains as even the fresh cutting was washed away.
Though the department has deployed more machineries, Walling said they cannot ascertained how long it would take to restore the road.  As informed earlier, light vehicles have been advised to take the Jotsoma by-pass road while heavy vehicles have been directed towards Peducha via Tsiesema Village.
