Following the two major landslides that occurred at Sechü- Zubza at 162.600 km and 162.750 km on NH-29 on September 30 and the slurry from nearby hill that continuously flowed down, traffic was disrupted between Kohima and Dimapur.

However, vehicles were allowed to ply till 2 p.m. on Friday and later closed for clearing the mudslide. The highway was again opened for traffic till 6 p.m. National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation site engineer Nchumthung Tungoe informed Nagaland Post that the highway would remained closed from 10 p.m. from Friday till 5 a.m. next day. He said both lanes of the highway would be opened for traffic before noon on Saturday after clearing the area.
