NH-29 LOU meets DC over land compensation

DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (NPN) | Publish Date: 5/8/2019 11:48:35 AM IST

NH-29 Land Owners Union (Purana Bazaar-Chumukidema) has expressed gratitude to the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur for assuring them that a separate meeting would be held at the earliest without involving the third party.

In a press note, NH-29 LOU information & publicity secretary Kewetso Kenye said the union held a meeting with DC Dimapur on Wednesday in the presence of executive engineer PWD (NH), Kohima Division; revenue officer, Dimapur; land record & survey officer, Dimapur besides area chairman and GBs of the village concerned along NH-29 (from Purana Bazaar to Chumukidema) and other officials. Kenye said the union at the meeting affirmed that it was not against the developmental activities, but maintained that due compensation should be paid as it was “an inalienable rights which cannot be deprived at any cost.”

Meanwhile, LOU said it has considered the statement of EAC Chumukidema that “the question of land compensation did not arise” as a direct challenge to the Gauhati High Court order. “However, it is assumed that such blatant press release could be out of ignorance,” the union stated.
