NH: Tribal bodies express concern

Five tribal bodies-- Angami Public Organisation (APO), Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO), Rengma Hoho and Pochury Hoho— have expressed concern over the “noticeable constitutional crisis prevailing in the Naga Hoho”.

In a joint statement, Dr. Vilhusa Seleyi and KT Vilie of APO, Ariyi Nienu and Kekhwengulo Lea of CPO, Visa Meru and Joshua Newmai of ZPO, Kenyuseng Tep of Rengma Hoho, and Chulekhu Pochury of Pochury Hoho asserted that the tenets of the constitution were absolute and ought not to be played about with but applied in the right earnest without predisposition.

They said that the outcome of November 26, 2018 meeting has further “drawn up unacceptable imbalance on jurisdictional applicability” rendering the platform entirely “lopsided and helplessly drifting southward with imaginative domain, which they described was “null and void.” The signatories, therefore, sought to put on record that the five tribes would not be held accountable in the event the existing process further “deteriorate Naga society through recurring gaffe being created by vested interests.”
