NH urges Centre to announce renewal of CF with Niki’s group

DIMAPUR, JAN 5 (NPN) | Publish Date: 1/5/2021 12:51:28 PM IST

Following the recent decision of the Niki Sumi-led NSCN (K) to renew the cease fire with the government of India , Naga Hoho has urged upon the government of India to “formally announce the renewal of cease fire” with Niki’s group “without any pre-condition” for an inclusive solution.

Naga Hoho in a statement expressed its conviction and appreciation of the “matured decision” taken by ‘gen’(retd) Niki Sumi to renew the cease fire but said Nagas were “still in dark” about what was happening between the government of India and Niki’s group.
NH pointed out since its inception, it had always strived for peaceful and inclusive “Indo-Naga political settlement” through non-violent means to resolve the long drawn political movement. NH said it was concerned when NSCN (K) abrogated the cease fire in 2015 which it signed with the Centre in 2001. For this, NH said its delegation went to Myanmar in 2016 to meet SS Khaplang leader of undivided NSCN (K) but could not meet him but conveyed to his emissary to renew the cease fire to carry forward the peace process for solution.
