Night curfew imposed along border area

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sivasagar, Assam has reinforced night curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland state with effect from May 22, 2019 for a period of 60 days. According to DIPR, the night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements, extremist and unlawful activities coming across the Assam-Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district. Movement of any person/group/any vehicular traffics have been prohibited during the curfew. However, magistrate, security personnel and civil officials on duty were exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order.
