NJDA appeals JAC Peren to settle the matter amicably

Nagaland Junior Doctors Association (NJDA) Thursday expressed deep concern over the “unprecedented” increase of COVID-19 positive cases in Peren district and said that such unfolding nature of the current pandemic anywhere in the state was a concern for all the citizens of Nagaland.

NJDA through its media cell, however, said it was also “disheartened” to see the imbroglio involving two of senior colleagues who were in the frontline tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
While dealing with patients or returnees, NJDA said the sole intention of any doctor was for their well being and never meant to harm.
It said that the dynamic nature of the pandemic has led to change of SOPs almost on a daily basis putting the healthcare workers on the field into catch 22 situation many a time.
Also, NJDA said that following the government SOP by frontline workers did not exclude the absence of COVID-19 in a person giving the new disease unpredictable nature and its clinical manifestations.
NJDA said doctors, with very limited manpower and resources, were working under extreme duress. Even though utmost care was being taken, NJDA said sometimes things go wrong, which it maintained should not be misunderstood as ‘intentional’.
Therefore, in the greater interest of the public, NJDA has appealed to the JAC to settle the matter amicably and pave the way for smooth process of active surveillance and contact tracing to contain the spread of the disease.
