Irked by the poor attendance of some members of the treasury bench during the ongoing budget session, NPF member Kuzholuzo (Azo) Neinu said such attitude was a acceptable in the august house.

As the opposition bench sought several replies on various issues during a full budget, the absence of ministers make it impossible to discuss pertinent issues like supplementary/demand for grants etc., Azo stated. Though many want to become ministers, Azo expressed dismay that when questions are raised, they do not take the responsibility of answering the questions by making themselves present.

To this, Azo urged the Leader of the House to ensure that all the ministers are present during such occasion. If not, he said a major reshuffle was required where young and capable members can be made ministers. He therefore suggested taking action against any minister being absent for more than three times.

To this, NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer intervened and informed the house the ministers were absent after obtaining permission from the speaker on health grounds.
