NLA sitting held at district court Dimapur

Nine motor accident claims cases were disposed off today during a national lok adalat (NLA) sitting held at Dimapur district court premises on December 12. 

A press release by NSLSA public relations assistant, Ketholeno Niehu stated that, NLA held today under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) was being organised after a gap in view of the pandemic. 
All the nine cases taken up were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs.38, 90, 000 (thirty eight lakh ninety thousand) only.
CJM & secretary Dimapur DLSA, Somet C Chang gave a brief introduction about the meaning of lok adalat and the role played by it.  During the last NLA held on February 8, 159 cases mostly at pre-litigative stage were disposed with a total settlement amount of Rs. 69,44,947 (rupees sixty nine lakhs forty four thousand nine hundred forty seven) only. 
 Altogether, 10 lok adalat sitting benches were constituted in ten districts for settlement of various disputes presided over by one or two sitting judicial officer(s). All the disposed cases were Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases which were pending before the court.
National lok adalat is organized on a quarterly basis with a view to provide platform for the people on the principle of serving justice on equal opportunity basis, compromise, conciliation and fair play.
