NNC denies termination report

Naga National Council (NNC) Information & Publicity Wing (IPW) has denied the press release published on March 28 regarding the NNC (Parent Body) CEC terminating its general secretary and a few other members.

A press release by the NNC IPW termed the terminating body as being a “fake NNC (Parent Body) CEC”. It added that this was a design by some vested interests to confuse the Naga people.

It stated that everyone knows that Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimchungrii, and V. Nagi were officially elected by the March 7 NNC general meeting held under all norms and procedures of the NNC (PB) “as announced officially and publicly to the entire people in the homeland and all concerned. Therefore, there is no confusion about this election of five years term of office.”

On the “former acting president” Z. Royim Yimchungrii, the release stated that his leadership was “condemned and denounced last year by the NNC (Parent Body) majority.” Thus, it said that calling Z. Royim the NNC (PB) president was “not true and a mockery to the entire people of the land and the NNC (Parent Body) in particular.”

It further claimed that Z. Royim Yimchungrii is a GB (Gaonbura) and VDB member in his native village and unfit to be called even a leader. Thus, the release asserted that calling him the president was misleading and a falsehood “and this is a fact stated to all the people in the homeland.”
