NNC reacts to Paresh Baruah’s statement

Reacting to the news item “ULFA (I) slams NPGs” published on November 5 last, Naga National Council (NNC) Central Executive Council (CEC) criticized ULFA chief Paresh Baruah for blindly blaming AZ Phizo. NNC was reacting to Baruah’s interview with News18.

In a statement, CEC member Kh. Salouni said the mandated NNC and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) had always upheld the policy of non-violence and maintained peace and tranquillity with all neighbouring people and nations, and shall continue to do the same.

In this regard, Salouni said that “Paresh Baruah, an undergound activist of Assam/Asom, has been excluded from the goodwill gesture” of the NNC/FGN due to his (Baruah) blind and baseless allegation against Phizo, father of the Naga nation, without any reason or provocation.

It clarified that neither the NNC nor Phizo had ever mentioned or written anything against Baruah, despite Baruah taking shelter in the Eastern sector of Nagaland.

However, he said Baruah blindly and baselessly blamed Phizo on several occasions through local media “as if Phizo implicated in the so-called Shillong Accord.” Salouni asserted that Phizo never implicated in signing of the so-called Shillong Accord.

Therefore, the contents of the news items written by Paresh Baruah in Nagaland dailies have been marked, he stated.
