No nomination filed for Lok Sabha, by-election on day-3

No nominations have been filed on the third day Wednesday for the Nagaland Lok sabha seat and 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency by-election for which the voting will be held on April 11 simultaneously, state deputy chief electoral officer, Awa Lorin stated.

The last date for filing of nomination for both Lok Sabha seat and by-election is March 25, scrutiny of nominations is on March 26, last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 28, date of polls and by-poll is April 11, counting of votes is on May 23 and the date before which the entire election and by-election process should be completed is May 27.

As on March 20, the Lok Sabha election is likely to witness a straight fight between NDPP-PDA and Congress. However,  sources said that NPF is also geared to set up a candidate. The announcement may be made on March 23, sources added.

While for the by-election, it is likely to be a three-cornered contest between NDPP-PDA, Congress and  NPF. Though NPP is mulling to field a candidate, it was yet to formally make the announcement.

Meanwhile, CEO Nagaland on Wednesday released a video on ‘clean election anthem 2019’.
