Chingmei Range Public Organisation (CRPO) has affirmed that it was not against Noklak district, but would object “till the very end” if Noklak was accorded a district by including Chingmei range.

CRPO through its media cell said  the state cabinet at its meeting on January 6, 2018 noted that the issue of inclusion of Chingmei range villages in Noklak district to be first resolved amicably between Noklak village council and Chingmei village before the notification earmarking the boundaries of Noklak district was issued by the government. The exercise to resolve the issue was to be carried out by DC Tuensang under supervision of commissioner, Nagaland, as per cabinet meeting minutes, which also put on hold district inauguration till the issue was amicably settled.

CRPO stated that Chingmei range people were facing untold suffering because the headquarters was located at Noklak.

It stated that even to get a signature from the office people from Chingmei range have to travel to Noklak while negligible number of people from Chingmei range got job opportunities in Noklak. Because of those practical difficulties, CRPO said there was a pursuit for shifting the administrative head for Chingmei range from Noklak to Tuensang.

CRPO, however, stated that everything was fine from both the people and the government until Noklak village started claiming Chingmei range as their own. CRPO said that  “forceful inclusion” of Chingmei range in Noklak district would “ignite tension and unrest”.
