As part of preventive measures against influx of illegal immigrants from Assam ahead of final draft National Registration of Citizens (NRC) publication, Nagaland government Thursday issued advisories.

Home department has directed all the village/town/municipal authorities to take measures to strictly monitor influx of people from outside the State in violation of the existing rules/norms. Any unusual influx of outsiders, the government said should be promptly brought to the knowledge of the district administration and police.

It also advised district administration and police to properly check/verify the antecedents of any new incoming tenants.

Further, all entry points/check gates manned by the police are to be strengthened to thwart any influx of illegal immigrants and mobile patrolling in vulnerable locations be activated in the respective jurisdictions.

State government has also instructed that ILP regulations should be strengthened with effective monitoring and checking from time to time.
