NSCN (I-M) acknowledges ‘political pragmatism’ of Ovung

NSCN (I-M) has welcomed and acknowledged the “political pragmatism” of NPGN/NNC (NA) president T Ovung in writing a letter to its chief Th Muivah to convey that the group had abrogated its association with WC of NNPGs and decided to support the historic Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015.

In a statement, NSCN (I-M) said, going further, Ovung had also requested Muivah that the matter be taken seriously and include NPGN/NNC (NA) in the settlement of Naga political issue.

Claiming that its ato kilonser and chief negotiator Muivah had shown political statesmanship and insight by engaging in the peace process to bring an honourable and acceptable solution to the Indo-Naga issue, NSCN (I-M) cautioned that if this was not understood, then forces at work against the Naga national interest would exploit Nagas.

The political group said that having realised the danger of mistakes and the necessity to salvage the righteous cause of the Nagas, a right decision had been taken by NPGN/NNC (NA).

Mentioning that no occasion was more important for the Nagas than the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiation to resolve the Naga political status, NSCN (I-M) emphasised that it was a necessity for the Nagas to understand together.
