Rainfall and strong winds accompanied with squall and lightening in isolated places is expected on April 9 in the districts of Kohima, Mon, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Wokha, Longleng, Peren, Phek and Tuensang.

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Home department, which issued weather updates for the coming days in coordination with the IMD, Regional Office Guwahati, stated that maximum temperature would see a dip during this time, settling even below 20° over the hilly areas.

NSDMA stated rains were likely to reduce on April 10 and April 11, but scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells were expected.

“Very little rain activity is likely during the day time, with partly cloudy sky,” NSDMA stated.

Weather activities would occur mostly in evening or night and rains, therefore, may not hinder the voting process on April 11.

Further, NSDMA stated that heavy rains would make a comeback by April 12.

It stated that Nagaland could expect another round of fairly widespread moderate to heavy rainfall from April 12 to 14. These showers will be accompanied by other pre-monsoon activities such as lightning, hailstorm, thunderstorm along with squally winds.

Districts such as Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Kiphire and Zunheboto will experience more rainfall as compared to other places, NSDMA stated.
