Defending champions Centurion FC Kohima village and last edition runners up MVYO Meriema booked their semi-final berth after winning their respective matches of ongoing 20th NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy on Kohima local ground on Friday.

In the first match, Yhunshalo Kemp made the difference for Centurion FC as they defeated Chumukedima Town Youth Organisation by a solitary goal to enter the semi finals of the tournament.

Kemp with an injury made a late substitution on Thursday match but couldn’t help the team to register a victory as the match was abandoned in the 88th minute. On Friday, the match proceeded to extra time, with the match going for  penalties, Kemp broke the deadlock in the 119th minute to ease pressure on the defending champions and sealed their victory over Chumu team.

Centurion FC will play their semi-final match against the winner of either MTYO Medziphema or Naga-Hospital Colony Youth Organisation on October 16.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter final match, MVYO Meriema’s striker Vizotuolie continued his good form scoring his 9th goal of the season to carry his team into the semis. MVYO Meriema defeated KVSU Kohima village 2-0 in the encounter.

Meriema team dominated the proceeding but had to wait until the 39th minute to break the deadlock.

It was their striker Vizotuolie who got the team into the score sheet, and with five minutes remaining, Keneisezo doubled the lead for Meriema team to make it 2-0.

KVSU Kohima village failed to make much of the impression despite their chances during the match. The second half saw Meriema team wasting numerous chances to finish the game but didn’t concede any goals as they battled out to win the match at the end of the final whistle.

Up next, Meriema team will take on either Viswemi FC or Unity FC in the semifinal match of the tournament on Oct. 17.

Angami Public Organisation President Dr. Kepelhousie Terhüja, was the match patron for the second quarter-final.
