MVYO Meriema thrashed Jovial FC 8-0 to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the 20th NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy 2019 at Kohima local ground, here on Wednesday.

Vizotuolie Lhousi and Keneisezo Keditsu, both scored three goals, while Vikeduolie Lhousi and Kenei Vilieo contributed a goal each for Merima team. 

Dominant, MTYO scored five goals in the first session. 

Up next, Merima team will take on the winner of the match between High School Taxi Drivers and Tyrants FC on October 7 in the pre-quarterfinal round.

In the second match,  Limakumzuk brace helped Chumu Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) beat Young Rising Star FC 2-0. 

Limakumzuk with his solo effort scored the goals in the 37th and 39th minutes. 

Both sides played with ten men each in the second session. 

CTYO were reduced to ten men after Thejangulie was sent off for second yellow card but did not have much impact as the team continue to dominate the match. 

While, Rising Star’s Kuhuzhoyi Theluo was sent off for foul play. 

Lima should have completed his hat-trick in the 78th but he failed to convert the spot kick after an error committed by Kuhuzhoyi.

Chumu team will take on Amicis Unitum FC in the pre-quarterfinal round on October 8.
