A four-day program on orientation of district and block staff on sub-program under NRLM, Mahila Kissan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) was held from August 7 to 10 at AIDA, DB Tech, Dimapur.

A press release from state program manager KMC, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Khriezovonuo Lhoungu stated that when delivering the key note address on the opening day, state mission director NSRLM, Athel O. Lotha emphasised on the need for concerted effort towards bringing about change in the current farming practices. She encouraged the participants to work with dedication to improve the livelihoods of the rural poor.

MKSP is a sub-component of DAY-NRLM which seeks to improve the present status of women in agriculture and enhance the opportunities available to empower them.

The objective of the orientation program was to prepare a training module for the Community Service Providers and come out with Package of Practices (PoP) for SHG members involved in agriculture and livestock practices as a means of livelihood. The program aimed at reducing drudgery for women farmers, reducing their input costs and improving their productivity in a sustainable manner.
