NU & CMU Thailand to undertake collaborative research programs

A meeting of faculty members of Nagaland University (NU) and Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand was held on March 18 at Kohima Campus (Meriema), Nagaland University. 

A press release from NU headquarter Lumami PRO, Peter Ki stated that the meeting was held in regard to Collaborative Research Programs to be undertaken by both the universities. The meeting was a follow-up of MoU signed by the two universities on June 17, 2016 which has a validity period of five years. 

The discussions focused on scholar exchange programs, scholarship for Nagaland University research scholars who qualify, and faculty exchange programs. Both basic as well as applied research will be the key areas of these programs. Broadly, the thrust area of research will be “Cultural Diversity and Biodiversity Management for Sustainable Development”. Presentations were made by the faculty members from both the universities, and discussions were held about the path forward. 

The meeting was chaired by School of Social Sciences dean, professor N. Venuh; pro-vice chancellor, Kohima Campus, professor R.C. Nayak welcomed the delegates; and professor SK Chaturvedi briefed the members on opportunities of research of common interests.
